The place was nice and big, beds were very comfortable and kitchen was amazing. The neighborhood was wonderful, with lots of parrots (?) in the trees. I used the kitchen a lot, plenty of space and really nice to cook in. The hosts were not great at communication, but that didn't affect the stay, it was just difficult to get questions answered.- Kathleen W. from San Diego , Posted: 10/19/2020
We had a wonderful stay with our family. Host left us lovely welcome goodies. I think other guests have done some damage since there were notes about many details like cost of missing towels and use of pantry items. Would have liked a few more garbage bags 2 was not enough. Dryer is not working very well causing it to run for extended periods. That being said we left the house very clean as we always do. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you- ruth c. from Mansfield, Posted: 01/29/2024
Overall it was fine. Great location for our purposes. Biggest negative was toilet near the master was broken. Also advertised as sleeping 7 which was true but only if you counted blow up mattress.- DAVID M. from Portland, Posted: 10/04/2022
We had a wonderful time. Most difficult thing was finding the laundry room. Great location for ease to the wedding.- Anonymous from Factoryville, Posted: 07/05/2023
The place and location are great. The furniture, kitchenware and TVs are not so great unfortunately.- HAITHAM A. from null, Posted: 05/09/2024
We had 5 people stay for a long weekend for a local wedding. Communication was great leading up to and during our stay. When we arrived the house was very clean and everything worked as it should. We were very pleased with our overall experience and would recommend Sage Cottage to anyone.- Chuck P. from Chittenango , Posted: 11/17/2021
We rented this home for the second time. It was very clean and management is quite responsive and very nice to deal with. We only used it for sleeping at night while spending Christmas with our son so don't know much about the kitchen but everything looks fine. A very nice gift tray of food goodies, coffee and wine is left for your stay and was such a nice touch and did come in handy. We definitely would recommend staying in this house and would do so again.- Karen T. from Redding, Posted: 12/29/2021
Enjoyed our stay, even able to pick oranges off the neighbors tree that hung over the fence- Jack S. from St George, Posted: 02/02/2022
We had a great stay here. The neighborhood is very quite, and has some scenic walks and trails nearby. Proximity to Pasadena was a plus. House had all amenities and was super clean. Would recommend.- Anonymous from San Jose, Posted: 01/20/2024
The house is beautiful and we had a wonderful stay. The house is fully stocked with everything that you could possibly need. There are multiple places to hang out, including a very comfortable backyard. We will definitely think of this place again if we are coming back to the area. Thank you for the comfortable stay.- Ken S. from Blue Lake, Posted: 12/03/2023
Great location. We contacted the management company about one issue and they quickly resolved it (the available Pack N Play was very dirty so they delivered another one).- Anonymous from Boston, Posted: 04/05/2022
As advertised, quiet area and clean.- Anonymous from FLOWER MOUND, Posted: 10/01/2019
We had a great time at this cute house. It was well-appointed, the house was stocked with everything we needed. I loved coming home after a long day and relaxing on the huge comfy couch. The location was on a nice quiet street, but it was still close to great restaurants and things to do.- LAUREN M. from NA, Posted: 10/25/2023
Great hiking trails and location
Perfect location near Pasadena and hiking trails. It is a dog-friendly location and about 1 mile to trailheads. Our Brittany Spaniel loved to run free up the mountain! All amenities as described. Beds very comfortable. Parking easy in front of house. Would stay there again.- Christine P from Las Vegas, NV, Posted: 02/26/2022
Check in was explained very well and everything went smoothly. The pictures online were correct, except for a slightly shabby (but clean) sofa. We thought the kitchen was well-appointed and appreciated the welcoming treats left for us.
However, upon using the kitchen, we found a severely broken dishwasher (we had to hand wash after each load) and a broken ice machine, very inconvenient. We also found only 2 dinner plates! I had to ask my sister to bring dinner plates so we could have our dinner party of four.
Neither bathroom had a box of tissue. We don't normally travel with boxes of tissue.
The checkout book, not referenced in any online description, wanted us to wash and return all dishes and strip all beds. This should have been covered in the cleaning fee, we feel. There seemed to be a lot of junk outside, possibly hazardous to children or pets.
With a little more upkeep by the owners, this would be a prime choice for travelers, given its great location, overall cleanliness, and property management professionalism being top positive aspects.

We had a great time staying in the Altadena area. We were able to take advantage of Huntington Gardens, Hiking which was in walking distance to the house, the fun shopping an restaurants of Pasadena and Universal. The house was exactly what we needed, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We come often to the area and would stay here again- Mike G. from HUNTINGTON, Posted: 07/01/2024
Everything was great but kitchen needs a total update on equipment, dishes, knives, pots and pans. Tub controls need to be moved down so they can be reached from tub. Both shower heads need to be replaced.- Anonymous from Birmingham, Posted: 10/04/2021
As always the home is very clean, quiet neighborhood. We only sleep and shower at the house so don't know about amenities in the kitchen. We with washcloths were provided but that is a very small thing. A nice tray of goodies is always left which is a very nice touch we haven't had at any other VRBO. The managers stay in touch and I'm sure would be there if there were any concerns. Yard was clean and kept up as well.- Karen T. from Redding, Posted: 12/28/2022
This property is very well located, near hiking trails, the Huntington, and the Norton Simon museum. The furnishings are not luxurious but are adequate. The place was clean and welcoming when we walked in the door, and the owners were friendly and accomodating. Highly recommended.- Tony S. from Washington, Posted: 01/13/2024
We spent 5 weeks in this home in winter 2022. It’s in a nice neighborhood which was quiet and good for walking. The living room furniture was comfortable, as was the master bedroom mattress. We enjoyed the backyard very much, but the cushions on the chairs are badly ripped, the table umbrella is broken, and there is leftover construction debris around. The staff at Vacation Living are wonderful. They are very responsive if any issue comes up. We’ve rented from them a few times and they are always great.- Anonymous from Charlestown, Posted: 04/26/2022
I was unable to stay at Sage Cottage due to a death in the family but missed the deadline to cancel my reservation. Katy was so understanding and refunded a good portion of my fee. I look forwar to staying at her cottage when next in Pasadna.- marilyn o. from Brooklyn, Posted: 09/16/2023
This home fulfilled all our expectations and more, from the size of the rooms, the comfort, the location ,ease of access and parking, to cleanliness and functionality.- Gary R. from Greer, Posted: 03/27/2022
This vacation home was very nice and in a great location to all the touristy things to do without being in the heart of the city. We enjoyed our stay at this home and the check in and out instructions were good.
I would recommend this home to others traveling in the area and needing a good place to stay. The outside patio area was nice as well.- Tiffany T. from Telford, Posted: 10/10/2023
Overall experience is quite good. Quiet and cozy. But It is rather smaller than I thought. And some of furnitures like dinner table and chairs are old and unstable.- Anonymous from NA, Posted: 11/14/2023
Sage cottage was just perfect for my family of 4 to explore LA & visit friends. We loved visiting Old Town Pasadena & it was super convenient to Dodgers Stadium & Griffith Park. We even explored further out with minimal difficulty to Ojah & Malibu.- Kimberly C. from Duluth, Posted: 06/23/2023
Very nice quiet place to stay. Would recommend it over a hotel anyway especially if you have children.- Lisa R. from Lakewood, Posted: 08/02/2023
We rented this place for a family wedding that my wife was making the cake for. Primarily looked for adequate refrigerator and counter space to work. The house was very lovely, well maintained and in a nice area. There were a lot of nice and unique little restaurants in the area and the people were very friendly. The house had a good view of the local mountains which happen to have a fair amount of snow on them. I was overall very pleased with my stay.- CLEO B. from CLAYTON, Posted: 04/10/2023
Location was perfect and the place had everything we needed. Great communication from the host - would highly recommend staying here.- Sherri B. from Murfreesboro, Posted: 01/04/2022
Great central location, plenty of space for seven of us. Our only critique was that the ceiling vents, filters, top of door frames were very clogged with dust and there were cobwebs above our heads...15 extra minutes taken cleaning those areas above eye level would remedy this for excellence.- Anonymous from Kihei, Posted: 09/20/2024
Great location, clean plenty of room.- Anonymous from Sunnyvale, Posted: 08/30/2023
Very good experience- Anonymous from Hampton, Posted: 01/30/2020
We stayed here over Christmas to be near our kids and had our dog with us. The house was very clean, the owner was very good at communication, and they left a tray of goodies from Trader Joes - something we have never seen at a VRBO and it was a very nice gesture. Being winter and mostly raining we did not venture into the back yard except with our dog. It was the only area that could have been cleaned up a bit but overall we were very happy with our stay. We hardly used the kitchen except to make coffee and use a few cups so can't comment on how well supplied it was but assume it was adequate. We would recommend it and stay here again if we needed to.- Karen T. from Redding, Posted: 12/29/2019
We enjoyed staying in the Sage Cottage. The house was very comfortable and clean. The host was easily available for questions. Will stay here again!- Kara L. from Edmond, Posted: 02/23/2024
20 minutes to our sons who we were visiting . Comfortable. Great weather . Nice walking trails nearby; downtown Pasadena right down the street.
- Anonymous from South Hamilton, Posted: 01/12/2020
The house was in a great location for our family. The whole house needs to be painted. A lot of light bulbs were burned out. Owner junk around the house in the back yard, makes it look shabby. With some light maintenance this house would be a home run.- Kelly A. from Oak Lawn, Posted: 01/05/2020
Sage Cottage was a cozy spot. It was clean and well maintained. The management was very helpful and accommodating. The Sage Cottage is actually centrally located for the whole of the LA area. Thanks management.- Joseph S. from North Charleston, Posted: 08/01/2024
While we generally were happy with this property there were several things that could make it a better stay for all. The most important being that the book of house instructions needs to be updated. For example, the microwave appears to have been changed and the instructions for operation in the book did not apply to the current microwave. Many items that were said to be in one location were in a completely different area. There was no dish drainer under the sink or anywhere in the house, for example. Also a couple thinks, like the toilet roll holder in the main BR was broken. We fixed it. We also fixed the Roku remote control. The silverware drawer has only 3 teaspoons in it for a house that supposedly sleeps 7. Also, a full length mirror and Kleenex would be nice. We were there for a wedding and there was no way to see how we looked from top to bottom. (I was the mother of the bride and would really have appreciated this.) Also, it's kind of tacky to have a "welcome" plate and bottle of wine, but then to ask that the guests replace them if they eat/drink them. It is a convenient location and was very clean.- Anonymous from SANTA MONICA, Posted: 06/21/2022
